Gas heat generators in industrial applications

The Dutch company Gasunie conducted a study on the most efficient way to heat industrial buildings, comparing several methods. The best results were achieved with gas heat generators (source: ISSO 57).

Underfloor heating was also taken into account in the study, but proved to be less efficient due to higher installation and operating costs. In industrial environments, air heating is used mainly during the working day, while underfloor heating has a slow response and requires continuous operation 24 hours a day.

Industrial buildings only need to be heated when employees are working, and this is exactly what gas heat generators provide. They are only switched on when the thermostat requires heat. Underfloor heating has a slow response time and takes a long time to reach the required temperature. Greenhouses

Both types of heat generators DHX and DXC can be used in greenhouses. Each type of crop (e.g. lettuce, tomatoes, garden plants) requires a certain concentration of CO2, which affects the choice of heating equipment.

The DHX produces CO2 for the growth process, as well as water vapor, without energy loss. However, it is important to properly ventilate the greenhouse to avoid excessive CO2 for people and plants.

The DXC has a chimney for the CO2 to be removed. A combination of DHX and DXC is also possible.

Poultry farming

Traditionally, poultry houses are heated with “open” gas heaters or oil heaters. Winterwarm offers DHX (gas) or DXB (oil) heaters for these situations.

However, these units produce CO2 and water vapor, so intensive ventilation is required to maintain a healthy environment. During ventilation, heat also escapes to the outside, which is uneconomical.
